Hands down, the question we hear the most when talking with someone about Jeffrey’s Dream for the first time is: Who is Jeffrey?

Memorable

There is no doubt that if you ever met Jeffrey Byers, you would remember him. He had a great sense of humor and was very witty. Always quick with his words and able to crack jokes, but also very sensitive and emotional, able to have heart to heart conversations with sincerity and love. He would spark up a conversation with most anyone he was around, whether standing in the check out line at the grocery store, or at one of his kids sporting events. He loved all people, without reservation, and loved getting to know them, their stories and their hearts.

Musician

Jeffrey was a talented musician. He was a singer, song writer, played the guitar as well as the trumpet. He led worship at Neighborhood Foursquare Church in The Dalles, OR for many years, and would play music at various gatherings and church events. His love and passion for worshiping Jesus was never limited to behind closed doors. Jeffrey was known to keep his guitar with him wherever he went and would play and sing whenever he felt led. Singing worship songs at the table of a restaurant was not uncommon. Jeff lived his life with passion, unreserved and unashamed of his love for Jesus.

Dreamer

Like many people, Jeffrey had dreams, passions, goals and desires for his life. One dream that he shared with his oldest daughter, Michaela, was the dream to open a coffee house. It would be a community-centered coffee house which served gourmet coffees and espresso-based beverages, fresh-baked pastries and would have a stage, allowing live music to be played. Jeffrey was unable to witness this dream become reality, as his life was cut short by cancer, he passed on December 1st, 2012.

Thus the inspiration for Jeffrey’s Dream, a non-profit organization encouraging people to dream big and equipping them to achieve those dreams! We are dedicated to strengthening our community and enriching the lives of the people in it.
